STOP SWEATING THE SMALL STUFF - THINK ABOUT OUR VETERANS!
Memorial Day marks the beginning of Summer, fun in the sun, picnics, parties, celebrations and fireworks! Memorial Day also commemorates our men and women who died while in military service to protect our country. One of the longest-standing traditions is the Indy 500 Race. It's a power-packed weekend.
I look back to last year's Memorial Day weekend and what I was doing . I was frustrated with Real Estate. I was constantly complaining about the small stuff, the economy, working with customers 24 x 7, meeting their needs and expectations, while getting more frustrated, because not much happened. Complain, complain, complain, I fell into that trap. Am I making a point here? Any of this sounding familar to you all out there?
I recently received a "Whack on the side of my Head"!! Did you ever read that book? This whack woke me right up as if I hit a wall head-on. My realization soon set in that there were more important things in life, than complaining about things not going right, Short Sales taking forever to close, home prices continuing to drop, not being able to sell my home, moving my listings, or finding the right home for my customers.
Health, life and family is so important. This past month, I received some unsettling news about my health. Between tests and test results, (which seem to take forever especially in this technology age), I had plenty of time to think and reflect back on not only my life, but the lives of all those wonderful veterans who supported us. Although, my setback is a mere "bump in the road"
and God willing will turn out positively, I have a second chance to pick myself up, brush myself off and move forward. But do those that have given their lives for us to keep us safe, do they have a second chance?
My message to all of you this Memorial Day weekend, is celebrate life, celebrate your families, have fun, enjoy your picnics, enjoy the race, but remember to think about our Veterans!
Remember, life is so short and it's a special gift.!
